GÉRARD GAROUSTE
Garouste is undoubtedly one of the greatest contemporary French painters. Myths, legends and the Jewish and Christian religions are among the many sources of inspiration that define the work of a great artist. His monumental formats, the virtuosity of his painting technique and his iconographic richness demonstrate his ability to never leave the viewer indifferent to his paintings, but also to his facilities, including two of them which punctuate the visit. This Mons exhibition offers an intense dialogue with the multiple sources that have existed over 40 years of creating. The presence of extremely ancient liturgical and secular books (such as the Haggadah, a Megillah or a bible from the XV century) will add an almost sacred dimension to the exhibition.
